Final Score: Score: 1-2 (Peter: Edmond, Choong Wei)
Players: Chai Liang, David, Francis, Hai Yee, Peter, Steven, Tony, Wyai Kay, Charlie, Naim
MIA: Hamdan ; Whitened: Choong Wei
The Game: This week we had Hai Yee and Steven back in the line up but Hamdan went missing.
With shortage of white players and with Jufri missing, Choong Wei decided to change allegiance this week, with his white Mt Kinabalu shirt. We played a 10-man game this week.
Game started with much zest from from both sides. But within the first 10 minutes it was evident that the Great Whites kept pounding on our defenders from the start, led by Choong Wei in the attack. Their effort paid off when they managed to score the opening goal. Choong Wei added the second goal beating Steven at tight angle a short while later.
First half our defence move back way too much, allowing for easy attacks from the whites. Our shrewd tactician Tony made several changes in the second half, the boldest being Wyai Kay at the goal. He himself played the last man while pushing everyone else beyond the midfield.
This time round, Charlie and Peter returned the favour by pounding on every white defence holding the ball. With almost everyone at the white side of the field, we managed to create many great chances.
Our David got his solo dribble, Naim made several perfect curling crosses, Hai Yee blasted a loose ball and even our defenders Francis and Chai Liang managed to get potshot, but luck were not on our side as none of them made it pass Johnny. Only a glancing header goal from a Naim cross manage to slip into the net. Quite a disappointing end result.
Of note that day, Chai Liang took much of the flak for his aimless passes and crosses - well what goes around comes around. Also, Choong Wei managed to break duck, but he did it for the Whites - was it because of his insider's knowledge? We found a gem keeper in Wyai Kay - who did unexpectedly well, the best being his diving save despite being caught wrong footed by Edmond bicycle kick?
Also, a worrying trend is back, players beginning to arrive of late... As with the last few weeks, the game this week started late, this time close to 7:40. Come on guys, BE PUNCTUAL!
Injury: Wyai Kay and Chai Liang's fitness were a dismal sub-optimal as both were recovering from cold/flu. Daniel down with his Arnie Swarzzie legs ailment.
