Match Report - Jun 3, 2006

Score: 1-2(David; Wilson, David the Dribbler)

Players: Steven, Daniel, Tony, Chai Liang, Hai Yee, Choong Wei, David, Hamdan, Charlie, Peter, Wyai Kay, Naim, Francis

The Game: Since god knows when, we had strength in numbers but if you do not score - you do not win. The Bananas had the initiative but not the cool to put the game away as numerous chances weren't converted. Even as the SD Bananas took control of the game, the strike force failed to put one past Johnny.

A number of changes went begging as the yellow submarine fired raids that only managed to knock on the Great Whites goal. Three chances were fluffed by Wyai Kay who shot weakly on all occasions for Johnny to collect easily. Choong Wei dummied a PASS from Wyai Kay but the ball was always going wide.

Into the second half we went, with no goals registered. This time, the Great Whites took control and to pressure the Yellow defences. As Yew Min managed to wriggle away from his markers, Tony lunged desperately that only saw the wilely striker topple over. Wilson made no mistake from the penalty.

However, we managed to regroup as our defences pushed up to keep up the pressure. Off a cross from Hai Yee, a brilliant knock down from Peter gave David the impetus to blast one past the seemingly impregnable Johnny. It was all square at 1-1.

As both sides looked for the winner, the Great Whites launched a counter attack off a sustained attack from the SD Yellows that all but sunk the submariners. The Bananas were caught out as Ann Hoe launched a punt from his own half for Edmund to chase down. Tony desperately chased as Steven came on to parry Edmund's effort. Unfortunately, the rebound fell to David the Dribbler who wisely chose not to dribble but executed a pinpoint chip that flew into goal. A fine way to crown his return from the Middle Kingdom.

Injuries: Daniel - URTI. Hai Yee - fatigue. And hope those pushy civil servants get injured too!!!
