Score: 1-2 (Tony; Ee Yong, Jufri)
Players: Boon Huat, Francis, David, Daniel, Chai Liang, Choong Wei, Rudy, Hamdan, Tony, Nayim, Wyai Kay, Peter
The Game: In one of those moments of coincidence, both of our regular goalies were unavailable for today's match. Thankfully, Boon Huat acquiesced to switch loyalties for the week to stand in goal.
The game kicked off brightly for the SD Bananas. The momentum was with us as we launched a number of early raids on the Great Whites goal. Choong Wei released Wyai Kay with a pass from his famous right. However, the opportunity went begging as he mis-kicked and the shot went well wide.
With Hai Yee absent, Chai Liang took over with a dazzling run that saw him beat 3 players to square the ball to Hamdan. However, mistiming his run, he shot tamely as Johnny easily collected. Another opportunity was wasted when Wyai Kay shot wide off a pass from Rudy. The half ended all square.
In the second half, the Great Whites began to assume more control, pushing up to sustain their attacks that effectively shackled us to our half. Under constant pressure, it was inevitable when Ngee Yong did a Konchesky, his intended cross dipping over Boon Huat for their first goal. The Great Whites did not let up and Ann Hoe lashed a pass from 22 yards for Jufri, who collected in the box, turning David to blast in from close range.
We made dire efforts to get back into the game, not helped by a sputtering attack. However, Tony regained some pride by scoring in the very last minute, turning in a pass from Rudy.
Tony conceded that we were outplayed as our defences sat too deep to sustain our attacks. The Great Whites had a fluid midfield, led by Ivan (in spectacles) who dictated the movements together with Wilson, Ngee Yong and Peng Siew. Jufri, Yew Min were a constant thorn in our defence as their back line did well to cover Johnny.

Well, the evolutionary arms race continues...
