Final Score: 2-2 ( Peter, Mike og; Ngee Yong, white guest striker)
Players: Chai Liang, Choong Wei, Daniel, David, Hamdan, Hai Yee, Peter, Steven, Tony, Wyai Kay
The Game: This week the Great White looked set to be understaffed when Ann Hoe, Boon Huat and Yew Min went for intensive training in Cambodia. On our sides, we had expected about 12 players. However, just like the weather, things do not always turned out as expected.
The Great White, had 11 players turned up, including a guest striker, but we had a player down with groin rashes and another player miss the plane. As it was, we had to play 10 men against 11.
Game started without much fuss, and we surpsrisingly scored the first goal within the first 15 minute. Peter coolly tapped in after Hai Yee deceptively sent a low cross passing 2 defenders. But the lead was shortlived when Hamdan lost ball possesion in our half for Ngee Yong to score a 30 metre goal.
We had to make a change in line up when YK proved to be non-performing on the left. A switch with Hai Yee on the right paid off when Hai Yee, once again proved his versatility in crossing, fooled the opponent into scoring an own goal.
The final equaliser was a little bit disappointing and too easy. After a corner rebound, Wilson manage to drive in a low cross, passing between David's leg for their guest striker to slot into our net.
After that looking for another goal was almost impossible, when the Whites pressured us consistently. Our 1 man deficit finally took its toll and we were forced to try to hold our stamina to last the game. It would have been easier for us, had YK not miss the open goal, also another instance of perfect cross from Hai Yee. I was screaming so loud at him, that he thought the whole team had shouted at him.
The game ended by both sides when, Edmond seemed to have been fouled within our penalty box. Was it a penalty? We have to give the benefit of doubt to our Daniel, who is very sure it was not a foul. He was awkwardly landed upon by Edmond, who leaned back at him.
Tough game but with 10 men ... it is considered good. But it could have been better.
Moral of the story? Just scream at anyone who made a big blunder. Just look at Hai Yee's performance after a week of 'tongue lashing'. Let's see if YK turn out to be our star player for next game this time?
Injury: Francis with groin rashes and Charlie's alarm clock broken.
