Match Report - Nov 18, 2006

Final Score: 3-2 (Alex 2, Chi Wei; Peng Siew, Yew Min)

Players: Alvin, Chai Liang, David, Francis, Wyai Kay, Tony, Eric, Steven, Marcus, Eric, Shane, Chi Wei, Guest Player 1, Alex

The Game: The Whites paraded their Dream Team as all their strongest players made the game. No worries, we had our own secret weapon as Marcus established himself with some telling passes. Eric used his speed to good effect and the 3 guest players also contributed heaps. But in the end, it was a team effort as commitment and discipline saw us through.

For once, everything went right as we did a stand-up job clamping down on their midfield duo, nullify their striking threats and took our chances well. Despite going a goal down early in the game, Alex made sure it would not be one of those days as he replied almost immediately and added 1 more to put us ahead. The Whites did not sit back and soon had our defences scrambling with Jufri hitting the post on one occasion. Yew Min, left unsighted, equalised for the Whites.

The tide turned in our favour in the second half as we took the game to the Whites. It was a matter of time before Chi Wei added our third goal. We did have some close shaves and were lucky when Jufri shot over in front of a gaping goal.

We could have added two more but the Whites too had their fair share of chances. But still, let this not be a flash in the pan. However, we will savour our victory as we came out tops at long last - and all the more sweeter against a side that was deemed stronger than in previous weeks - all that with a 3-5-2 formation and minimal shouting from Tony.

Injury: None on our side.
