Match Report - Feb 4, 2006

Final Score:3-1 (Daniel, Alex, Hamdan; Ah Joon)

Players: Chai Liang, Choong Wei, Daniel, Hai Yee, Peter, Rudy, Steven, YK, Hamdan, Charlie, David, Alex, Francis

The Game: The weekly fixtures resumed after the CNY break. However, Tony - a notable absentee - was still on his annual sabbatical, handing out ang pows across the causeway. David, of the Great Whites, also made an appearance, sacrificing the Shanghai night club girls for a bout of football.

News also soon floated in of our new yellow coloured jerseys - we can't wait to emulate the likes of Soh Chin Aun and Mokhtar Dahari this year...

After a tentative start, much of the initiative laid with the SD Reds (but soon to be yellow). The first goal, off a corner from Hamdan was nodded in, brilliantly by Daniel - who made a rare foray into the opponent's six yard box. Tracking the ball as he ran from the edge of the penalty area, he met the ball with immaculate timing.

The rest of the goals came in the second half. In a packed penalty box, Alex's goal was instinctive, as he turned and smashed the ball into the net . Hamdan, as always, is an inspiration - lobbing in from outside the penalty area after a poor goal clearance.

Late into the second half, a free kick was awarded to the Whites after YK handled the ball just outside 44 yards*. Ah Joon stepped up to curl a spetacular freekick over the defensive wall, dipping just at the right moment into the top left corner, passed the outstretched hands of Steven, who was in full flight.

*It was deemed to be a ball to hand situation after extensive review of video evidence.

Injuries: None; Choong Wei had the flu
