Red Black stressed again

After the Sat Feb 19, Han later mentioned that our game are "getting rough which is no good". He "hope to start a good-spirited game next week end". Tony talked to him later about how our games had gone and that we had talked about this issue before and what our stand is on this.

The games should not be all about winning, but a get together to enjoy ourselves, to de-stress, to get sexily-worked out muscle, whatever. We can be serious when playing but do not get trapped in the "want-to-win-at-all-cost" mentality. If the mindset is wrong when we start, we can get into dangerous zone of vengeful, dirty soccer, or even murderous. Thats why we get too many fouls, and the protests about the fouls.

What if someone get hurt? Neither is it good going home feeling unhappy.

We are not a professional team. Or that we are trying to win any prize. Be mindful that we (black/red) are all friends playing together.

Remember when we first started at St Wilfrid small field? We mix around and play for the fun of it? How we enjoy creating fanciful pass or goal? Or laugh at another's silly mistakes? Or most importantly when someone scored, that we played on with thinking about how to get the next goal instead of lamenting what went wrong with the last goal and who was at fault or what you should do or shouldn't do?

We getting too team oriented red vs black. Red vs Black. We should instead think of the BIG red and black team. The keyword is "AND". Not the "VS".

One suggestion was to play a mixed team. Mix the red and black players. Maybe not every week, but once a while. Or we could improvise, swap a few players, make the team balance, so it is not one-sided. Play as a big team (red and black) together, instead of red vs black?

Can we do that this Saturday? What do you think? Please comment.

Oh yes, I forgot to mention about the jersey. Yeah I still got the spare set or "Love Bird" Jersey. We could have Red/Black vs Love Bird.

This solve the jersey problem.

Good that this has come to light. Sessions are toning down.

Love Bird is fine. Good Call.

Also we have not tried flipping players to odd positions. Can have 1 team midfielders and strikers playing against wingers and defenders. Of course will have loss of momentum and flow. Much like Arsenal after losing to Man U.

But it's a change. But seriously, no need to go that far. Just a tone down/cool down playful session will be fine.

2 weeks ago session where Choong Wei and Boon Huat had a passing session was lighthearted. Good fun.

Let's see how this weekend goes. I've been bringing my black top for 4 weeks already in case short of players then can share.

Hi All,

I prefer mixing the players equally, ie a more balanced team (but not every week). The feelings is a bit sour for the other team as we have quite often win them big margins..................

Although we have touched on this topic before, I still realised that a few of our players still pull a long or 'black' face even though we have won and lets dun talk about if we have lost, cos a few heads will roll.......

What we should do instead is to:
(1) enjoy the game
(2) not pointing fingers at particular players at fault. Be it gaolie let in goal, defensive lapses, midfielder not passing well, striker can't score easy goals, players miss penalty, etc(Mr Beckham also miss during Euro, so what the hell if we can't score from penalty spot??)
(3) not criticising players but instead to encourage and point out their mistake so that he can improve his game
(4) as for the hard tackles, for me I will only return favour to the person who does it on me, I will not initiate in the first place.....as my pair of hairy leg is the most beautiful
part of my body

Note : I am not attacking any particular players in our team, these are just my comments, hope that none of you get disturbed by what I say.

Warning: If the above do happen again, I will switch to playing Tennis instead... What's the point of seeing Black faces on a Sat. morning when I can every minute, every second look at my beautiful, sexy, mini-skirt opponent????

Regards,
Choong Wei - Mr Tennis Guy

I see that the stress of playing competitive football week in, week out has led to the onset of battle fatigue, jittery nerves and schizophrenia.

The reason some ill feelings evolve is that the opponents do not know us well. Once they do, they know that deep down that none of if is ever personal, except for Tony.

So to let them know that the battle always ends at the final whistle is to organize a get-together.

But what can 22 guys do together off the pitch? BBQ - that's so juvenile! Set a date and descend onto Tiananmen Square - wine, women and song will make us best buddies, forever!!
